REVIEW ON 'COME MY FANATICS 'ZINE' (Italy)

ZIPPO - The Road To Knowledge

9.5 / 10

The Road to Knowledge, more than just a record, is a journey. Since the subjects covered, a concept on "The Teachings of Don Juan Castaneda, the story of a spiritual journey through the use of hallucinogenic drugs, a way to deal with issues very close to the" traditional "stoner rock, but with so much class. Second, even the music itself is one of the most exciting in recent years, an array comprising many different influences from various musical cultures. Zippo's are indeed a unique and incredibly successful marriage between the stoner rock classics, like Kyuss, Nebula, etc., a debtor compositional skills of progressive rock, psychedelic unparalleled attitude, a perfect arrangement of parts, refined and minuziosissimo, a use alien harmonies, dissonance between never too aggressive and catchy melodies on the one hand, but without becoming banal. Elegance that is hard to equal in these contexts, an originality that abstracts them from any classification, a perfect album that could last three or four hours without tiring.

Episode by episode, the whole shows well prepared both technically and in terms of songwriting, Dave the entry with a superlative performance when he sings clean, not perfect in the more dirty (such as in the first seconds of El Enyerbado), made amends with beautiful lyrics and a fantastic voice in other contexts, the work of the rhythm section is excellent, especially the drums of Feric, varied and precise, involving a maximum, and finally great note of credit for working on guitars, perhaps those which give an extra dimension to the pieces , give details that listening to discover and listen to the songs, making them extremely durable.
Needless to talk about individual songs, this album close to perfection as a whole, and as a whole retains its value.
